Combining their professional knowledge with their passion for travel and nature, in 2021 Francisca Guzmán Lobo and Álvaro García Mateu decided to create IVERYAN (Unexplored Spain). Together they want to share with other travelers from all over the world the natural wonders of Spain, its exciting rural environment and its traditions. Through an exclusive and personalized approach, their aim is to show those travelers – more like explorers, the way they see it – the aspects and places unknown and unreachable to the conventional outdoor tourist.
FRANCISCA GUZMÁN LOBO
Born and raised in Mexico, where she spent her childhood in the countryside and among horses. At a young age she moved to Madrid to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, and during those college years she made the most of it to travel around the remote corners of this country.
At the end of her studies, her adventurous spirit led her on travels through China, Africa and the Middle East, where she lived and worked. Being free to choose anywhere in the world to settle, she finally chose to return to Spain, where she raised a family.
Within the IVERYAN Project, Francisca contributes her own vision as a foreign-turned-local traveler, fascinated by that deep, authentic and rural Spain, with its exceptional nature and its wonderful people.
There are many spectacular places around the world, but the countryside in Spain has something special: the close relationship that exists between nature and the way the landscape is shaped with its uses and traditions, history, agriculture and livestock. Human presence is one more element of the ecosystem. Here, to interpret a landscape is to learn biology and history.
